Laurel, Beret with Bobbles and Poetry

Laurel, pattern from Brooklyn Tweed

It's April.  We're at the very beginning of what e. e. cummings called "just-Spring when the world is mud-luscious".   There's a vase of the first daffodils from the garden on the kitchen table and rain/sleet/snow outside.

I spent the morning finishing this hat.

The yarn is Shibui Knits Baby Alpaca DK, as soft as a breeze, as soft as snow. "The snow doesn't give a soft white damn whom it touches," says e.e. cummings.

Happy National Poetry Month!

[in Just-]

in Just-
spring          when the world is mud-
luscious the little
lame balloonman

whistles          far          and wee

and eddieandbill come
running from marbles and
piracies and it's

when the world is puddle-wonderful

the queer
old balloonman whistles
far          and             wee
and bettyandisbel come dancing

from hop-scotch and jump-rope and

balloonMan          whistles
